A Leader On & Off The Court
Subrena Rivers is a seasoned law enforcement professional with over 22 years of experience, currently serving as a Captain with the DC Metropolitan Police Department. She has dedicated her career to public safety, leadership, and community engagement.
A former standout athlete, Subrena attended August Martin High School (1981–1985), where she played a pivotal role in the basketball team’s success, helping secure three City Championships, two State Championships, and earning All-American honors. She continued her basketball career at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she was a four-year starter and instrumental in the team’s three ACC Championships and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Final Four run in 1989.
Subrena earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from the University of Maryland in 1990 and later received a Master’s in Education from John Hopkins University in 2012. Subrena also served in the United States Army Reserves. Her extensive background in law enforcement, combined with her leadership experience on and off the court, has shaped her commitment to service, mentorship, and excellence in policing.
